Group Therapy
Sometimes, discovering that you are not alone in your struggles can be healing in itself. Many people find that participating in group therapy helps reduce feelings of isolation and shame while fostering a greater sense of connection, belonging, and self understanding. Group therapy also provides a unique opportunity to practice new skills, receive feedback from others, and challenge yourself to be vulnerable in a supportive environment.
My approach to group therapy is strongly influenced by the work of Irvin Yalom and the interpersonal process group model. Yalom believed that healing occurs not only through discussing problems, but also through the relationships that develop within the group itself. Process oriented groups focus on the here and now interactions between group members, creating opportunities to better understand relational patterns, deepen emotional awareness, improve communication, and experience new ways of connecting with others.
Over the years, I have had the privilege of facilitating a variety of therapy and psychoeducational groups, including:
• Chaotic Families Process Group
• Aphasia Support and Process Group
• General Adult Process Groups
• Parenting Psychoeducation Groups
• Emotion Regulation Skills Groups
• Inpatient Psychiatry Groups
Upcoming groups may include:
Adjusting to College Group
Dating Support Group
Religious Struggles Group
General Adult Process Group
Pet Loss Support Group
Chaotic Families Group
